Delta Trade: One of the main logistical challenges is organizing production and loading in a “Just in Time” system
Operating under a “Just in Time” production model, Delta Trade faces logistics challenges ranging from precise production planning to optimal load space utilization. This article describes how Delta Trade leverages the Goodloading application to eliminate overproduction, optimize the arrangement of goods, minimize costs, and enhance communication with clients.
Delta Trade s.j. is a company with over 30 years of market presence, evolving from a production enterprise to a global house of brands. Delta Trade s.j. includes brands such as:
- Delsit: A manufacturer of children’s furniture and seating, offering foam armchairs, sofas, dry pools, and playgrounds. The brand’s products reach customers in 27 countries and are popular among over 2.5 million children.
- Delprint: A division specializing in fabric printing through sublimation, providing solutions for industries such as advertising, apparel, sports, and construction.
- HorseMania: A brand focusing on the production of training equipment for horses and riders, including poles, walls, ditches, and cavaletti, supporting the development of both young and experienced horses.
Logistical challenges at Delta Trade
“Due to the global reach of our distribution, we work with external companies with whom we have long-term partnerships. Weekly, we organize hundreds of courier shipments, 2-4 full truckload transports with 120m³ sets, several transports up to 30m³, and approximately 3 FCL container shipments per month,” explains Robert Czaja, Area Sales Manager at Delta Trade.
From the discussion, we learn that the main challenge is organizing production and loading in a “Just in Time” system, which practically means no storage of finished products. Robert Czaja elaborates on these challenges: “Once production of an order is completed, it is loaded for transport. This solution saves warehouse space and resources but requires very precise planning and no production delays. Another challenge is accurately planning the order volume relative to the agreed transport. Since our typical order consists of various products of different sizes, we need to carefully plan the loading of containers or trailers to avoid overproduction and ensure no unused space is left during transport. This is where Goodloading significantly supports us, allowing us to simulate loading in real time, enabling collaborative work with clients to maximize load space efficiency.”
Using Goodloading in logistical processes
To effectively manage these challenges, Delta Trade uses Goodloading. This tool helps the company simulate load arrangements. “During the creation or approval of an order by the client, quantity or product changes often occur. Clients often lack a full understanding of load space. With Goodloading, we can easily provide clients with a visual representation of load space utilization and work with them to optimize space usage,” says Robert Czaja.
“Goodloading has positively impacted our transport costs”
When asked about the results of using Goodloading, the representative states, “We have managed to develop new loading methods through early simulations in the program. This has directly translated into savings in transport costs.”
Given the type of production, beyond the cost reduction benefits, Goodloading also enables better planning and maximizes vehicle and container space usage, which is critical in a “Just in Time” system where there is no room for logistical errors.
